History of Bob's Speedometer
Bob's Speedometer is a family owned business that was started in 1929. The shop was originally in Detroit as United Motors Auto Service. By the mid 1950's we worked exclusively with Speedometers & Gauges. In 1987 the business moved northwest into Farmington. Ownership changed from Father Bob to son Bruce in 1969. Bruce has been working on gauges since 1956. Bob passed away in 1980 (RIP). In 2004, we moved from our Farmington location to Howell, Michigan.
This speedometer, tachometer, and gauge cluster from a 1947 American LaFrance 700 series pumper were completely restored by the techs at Bob's Speedometer. And as the picture shows, these vehicles were not only functional, they had a styling that makes them showcase superstars for collectors all over the world. They truly don't make them like this anymore!
There was a time when even boat instruments had their own combination of functionality, style, and grace.
Who else but the techs at Bob's Speedometer would you trust to restore this elegant console from your 1946 Higgins Sport Speedster?
With nearly 79,000 Pontiacs built in 1934, it's no surprise that the techs at Bob's Speedometer can restore these gauges to look this good.
What MAY surprise you is that they also have NO problem providing a customized 160mph speedometer conversion that will look just like the 100mph OEM original.
Take a nice long look at this beautiful, completely restored 1940 Pontiac cluster.
All new chrome with all new faces. The speedometer and odometer were rebuilt to make them like new.
The Battery, Gasoline, Oil Pressure and Temperature gauges were retrofitted with all new modern gauges.
Last but not least, we added customized LED turn signal indicators.
That's how we do things at Bob's Speedometer!
